Welcome to Retreat House in Barbados

Retreat House is a beautiful and serene hide away. The 33,000 sq/ft of grounds are fully enclosed by soaring mature trees, which provides seclusion and total privacy.  It offers over 4000 sq/ft of indoor space, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms in a sweeping open plan layout. It is located at  at the end of a quiet cul de sac in a residential neighbourhood.

Details of the property

Upon entering the house you are immediately drawn to the beautiful wooden architecture accented with an Indonesian influence. The vaulted ceiling offers large antique hardwood structural beams exposed to complete a rustic look. These beams and the ironwork on the windows are from old local sugar mills. A wooden deck complete with swing chairs offers a calming view of the treetops.This deck area can also accommodate two teak sun loungers, of which there are six available in the house.

On the entry level there are three bedrooms which share a bathroom, along with the ensuite master bedroom that overlooks the pool. In the mornings if you are up early enough you might see the families of monkeys that swing through the trees around the property. On this level there is also an open plan seating area overlooking the deck through glass paned double doors, which is a perfect place to read or just look at the distant views and blue skies.

Taking the central staircase, which is suspended over an internal coral stone boulder feature, leads you into the large open living area that spills onto a covered patio of 500 square feet. This verandah with it’s antique Indonesian hardwood furniture is the perfect place to relax, be it sitting quietly in the tropical warmth, reading a book, cooking on the Weber gas barbecue or listening to music on the provided Bose sound system.

The open deck features a Kiln brick Pizza oven around the generously sized tiled pool that is approximately 20 x 20 feet and just under 6 feet deep with exposed coral stone boundaries. A hammock is situated by the pool along with wooden sun loungers. The gazebo has a comfortable seating area and a parachute hammock is available to stretch out in the shade.

House Amenities

The TV/sitting  room is fully enclosed and air conditioned and has a Samsung 60 inch HD TV with Bose surround sound system along with Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.  The house also has high speed internet (75 mbps+) and wi-fi throughout with no download limit. The large five seater couch offers four reclining positions. The house has standard US style electrical outlets at 115V, however there are also two 220V UK outlets in this room.

The kitchen has mahogany cabinets, a Smeg gas cooktop, electric oven and a separate pantry and washing area. The kitchen has complete sets of cutlery and crockery including a dishwasher, air fryer, NutriBullet, electric kettle, microwave, toaster and anything else you may need. There is a pantry which houses a washing machine, dryer. It also offers two 220V UK outlets in addition to the standard US 115V outlets. The open plan provides a breakfast bar and flows to a large seating area which includes a corner couch and rocking chairs around a coffee table.This level also has a full bathroom.

Retreat House is close to Port St. Charles, Port Ferdinand, Gibbs and Mullins beaches along with other West coast beaches and amenities.

The house comes complete with a King bed in the master suite, there is also a bedroom with a four poster Californian king bed, all other bedrooms have Double beds.  All bedrooms have separate air conditioning units.  

For your safety and security Retreat House also has a monitored alarm system overseen by G4S, there is a large electrically operated wooden gate with a security camera along with fire alarms and extinguishers throughout.
